Brendan has missed the cut by an agonising one
stroke at the PGA Championship at Oakland Hills, his second round of 78
leaving him in 74th position when the cut was made at 8 over.
Brendan
was out early on day two after his afternoon round of 71 on day one and
started solidly enough with three straight pars but consecutive double
bogies at the 4th and 5th holes set him on a downward spiral that, try
as he may, he was unable to halt.
"I felt I played well enough to do well but made too many simple mistakes," said Brendan from Los Angeles airport on his way home. "My putting is still terrible and is something to work on."
For
Brendan it is now back to Canberra for a break of six weeks or so before
his next event in Japan. It ends a lengthy stint on the road and if
there is anything positive for him in missing the cut it is that he
will be able to head home to the famliy for a well earned rest.
Brendan's next tournament will be the Asia Pacific Panasonic Open starting on September 25th.

Brendan has made a very good stat to the PGA Championship at Oakland Hills near Detroit, his opening round of one over par 71 leaving him in 16th position but only three shots from the current lead.
Brendan was out late on day one although he managed to get his day completed while 18 players will be required to return in the morning to finish their opening round.
A birdie at his 17th hole (the 8th of the course) turned a good round into a very encouraging start and with an early tee time tomorrow (8.00am) he has a chance to continue on with it.
